Forward Pressure
Overview
Forward pressure is continuous shooting and movement that forces opponents backward, reducing their angles and preventing them from gaining control of the field.
Key Points
- Pushes opponents into defensive positions.
- Creates openings for teammates to advance.
- Reduces the opponent’s ability to shoot wide angles.
- Relies on constant communication and coordinated movement.
- Essential for controlling tempo and field dominance.
Details
Forward pressure refers to actively pushing opponents back with steady fire and smart movement. Instead of sitting passively behind bunkers, players apply pressure that forces opponents to stay low, hesitate, or lose access to key shooting lanes.
This pressure can come from: - Continuous laning - Tight, aggressive snapshots - Moving into stronger bunkers - Crossfield angles that punish peeks
Forward pressure shifts the momentum of the game. Opponents under pressure cannot move freely, support teammates properly, or maintain control of important zones. This creates opportunities for teammates to push up the center or wide edges.
Effective forward pressure requires timing, teamwork, and awareness of where opponents can counterattack. Too much reckless pressure can lead to unnecessary eliminations, while controlled, smart pressure wins field position and games.
