High Line
Overview
A high line is a shooting lane taken from an elevated barrel angle or higher bunker position to clear low obstructions, dominate long corridors, and pressure opponents across wide field zones.
Key Points
- Uses elevated barrel placement to shoot over low bunkers or obstacles.
- Common from taller stand-ups, wedges, center towers, or elevated terrain.
- Controls long-distance movement and denies mid-grid transitions.
- Allows players to pressure wide opponents without exposing lower body.
- Requires precise marker stability and awareness of vertical angles.
Details
A high line is a lane created by elevating the barrel above typical firing height to hold long, unobstructed routes on the field. Instead of hugging the low edge of a bunker, the player extends their barrel around the upper region of the bunker to maximize vertical sightlines. This unlocks angles not available from traditional low-edge firing positions.
High lines excel at cutting off wide players during bump attempts and disrupting mid-grid transitions that occur behind low bunkers. Because the shot originates from elevated posture, the player's view of the field expands, allowing them to identify movement earlier than opponents using lower wraps.
The technique must be executed with disciplined posture. Players expose more torso height when taking a high line, so timing is critical. They often rise, shoot, and immediately return to a compact position before opponents can respond.
High lines also influence map control. Maintaining a well-held high line can prevent entire lanes from being used, forcing opponents to adopt slower or riskier movement paths.
