Nest Position
Overview
A nest position is an elevated or partially enclosed bunker location that provides superior visibility, angle dominance, and field control, often acting as a vantage point for locking lanes and orchestrating team movements.
Key Points
- Offers elevated or protected visibility over large field zones.
- Used to lock lanes, control mid grid pressure, and support wide players.
- Common in tower bunkers, wedges, platforms, or terrain based high ground.
- Requires disciplined gun posture and broad situational awareness.
- Losing a nest position can collapse lane integrity and open attack routes.
Details
A nest position refers to any bunker or terrain feature that provides strategic oversight of the field. Nest positions may include tall airball stand ups, center towers, woodsball platforms, or elevated ridges in natural terrain environments. These spots allow players to see deeper into lanes, spot movement earlier, and create extensive crossfield pressure.
Players assigned to nest positions act as field controllers. Their responsibility is not only to shoot but to read pressure, communicate shifts, and influence enemy movement paths. High bunker geometry allows them to lock long corridors, defend teammates during bumps, and deny opponents access to critical angles.
Because nest positions become immediate targets for opposing teams, holding them demands disciplined posture, efficient wraps, and careful exposure management. Losing a nest position can destabilize the entire defense, as attackers gain access to key zones previously restricted.
In scenario and woodsball gameplay, nest positions often dictate map flow, giving one side an inherent advantage until the opposing team dislodges the nest operator.
