High Wrap

High Wrap reference article.

Overview

A high wrap is a shooting technique where a player elevates their upper body around the top or upper edge of a bunker to gain vertical angles and pressure opponents hidden from low-edge sightlines.

Key Points

  • Executed by rising over or near the top edge of a bunker.
  • Reveals angles unavailable from traditional low-edge positions.
  • Used for surprise shots and crossfield pressure.
  • Requires fast exposure and immediate return to safety.
  • Often combined with posture shifts to avoid predictable timing.

Details

A high wrap involves lifting the marker and head above the bunker’s upper edge to gain angles that bypass low obstacles and concealment. While this exposes more torso height, it unlocks shot lines that catch opponents off-guard, especially those relying on predictable low-edge engagements.

Players use the high wrap to shoot over low beams, pressure tucked opponents, and force movement by attacking angles normally safe from standard posture. Because of the increased exposure risk, the move must be fast players pop up, take the shot, and immediately retract.

High wraps also create crossfield pressure when executed from tall bunkers. A well-timed high wrap can catch opponents mid-bump or deny lanes that teammates cannot see from lower depths.

Mastery requires timing, bunker familiarity, and the ability to maintain recoil control while elevated.
