- Hurts fair play and can disrupt game integrity.
Details
A wipe occurs when a player intentionally removes or disguises a paintball hit so they can continue playing. This includes rubbing paint off, pressing against a bunker to smear it, covering it with hands or gear, or intentionally hiding it from referees.
Wiping is illegal everywhere paintball is played and is considered one of the most serious rule violations. It undermines fairness, creates safety risks, and damages the integrity of the game.
Players are expected to call themselves out immediately when they are hit with a clear break. Referees watch closely for signs of wiping and issue strong penalties if they see it.
Teaching beginners early about honesty prevents bad habits and keeps the game fun for everyone.
