Details
An impact check is the process of verifying whether a paintball that struck a player actually broke and left a visible mark. Players often call for a check when they feel contact on their pack, back, head, or any location they cannot personally see.
Referees perform official impact checks during organized matches, quickly examining the area for fresh, broken paint. If the paintball bounced or left only a smear from another source, the player is still considered active.
Players must remain still during an impact check to avoid influencing the referee’s judgment. Opponents are typically required to hold fire until the check is complete.
Impact checks ensure fairness during fast paced games, preventing accidental eliminations and resolving disputes quickly.
