Arrival Zone

Arrival Zone reference article.

Overview

The arrival zone is the exact area a player reaches at the end of a move, such as the final steps into a bunker, where they are most vulnerable to incoming fire.

Key Points

  • Often the most dangerous moment during movement, as players are exposed while entering a bunker.
  • Opponents frequently shoot at arrival zones to catch advancing players.
  • Good players pre-slide, lower their profile, or change speed to reduce vulnerability.
  • Teams may use cover fire or distractions to safely reach arrival zones.
  • Understanding common arrival zones improves survivability during aggressive pushes.

Details

The arrival zone is the finishing point of an advance whether diving into a bunker, sliding into a lane, or stepping into a new position. Although the movement itself is risky, the moment a player enters the arrival zone is often the most dangerous because opponents anticipate this exact spot and shoot it heavily.

Every bunker has one or more predictable arrival zones, shaped by common approach paths and the angles opponents hold. Experienced defenders prefire or lane these areas, making it difficult for attackers to reach strong positions without proper timing or cover fire.

Players can reduce risk by approaching arrival zones at unexpected speeds, using slides or dives, staying extremely low, or zig-zagging slightly before entry. Support players can suppress defenders, forcing them to look away or break their shooting rhythm.

Understanding arrival zones helps players plan safer route choices and better coordinate pushes. It also teaches defenders where to focus their own lanes when stopping incoming attackers.
