Ground Slide
Overview
A ground slide is a low, controlled movement technique where a player slides along the ground to enter a bunker quickly and safely while minimizing exposure.
Key Points
- Used to reach bunkers faster while staying low.
- Reduces exposure to active lanes during movement.
- Common in breakouts and aggressive forward pushes.
- Requires proper body positioning to prevent injury or loss of gear.
- Executed differently on turf, grass, dirt, or scenario terrain.
- Often paired with diving or knee slides in competitive play.
Details
A ground slide is a movement technique used to enter bunkers at high speed while keeping a minimal target profile. Players begin by accelerating forward, then dropping into a controlled slide across turf, dirt, or grass, allowing momentum to carry them safely into their destination bunker.
The ground slide is especially useful on the breakout, where open lanes are hot and players must stay low to avoid being clipped. It also allows players to maintain control of their marker and pods while sliding.
Proper form includes keeping the marker high and stable, leading with the feet or hip depending on bunker orientation, and using momentum rather than brute force to complete the slide.
On artificial turf, slides are smoother and can cover long distances. On dirt or uneven terrain, players must adjust technique to avoid rolling or catching obstacles. Woodsball fields may require hybrid movements combining sliding with crawling.
Mastery of ground slides enhances speed, survivability, and movement efficiency on the field.
