Knee Slide

Knee Slide reference article.

Overview

A knee slide is a controlled forward motion where a player drops onto one or both knees to enter a bunker quickly while maintaining a stable, low profile.

Key Points

  • Used to reach bunkers quickly while minimizing exposure.
  • Allows players to keep their marker up and ready during movement.
  • Safer and more controlled than full body dives on rough terrain.
  • Common in both breakout movement and mid game repositioning.
  • Technique varies depending on bunker angle, field surface, and momentum.
  • Requires proper protective padding to prevent injury.

Details

A knee slide is a movement technique where a player transitions from running to a sliding entry by dropping onto one or both knees. This method helps maintain forward momentum while keeping the body low to avoid lanes.

It is especially useful on turf or soft grass, where friction allows smooth, controlled sliding. Players tend to lead with the knee opposite the firing hand to maintain a gun up posture during the slide.

Knee slides are often used to enter bunkers such as cans, bricks, wedges, or corners. They allow players to stay balanced and quickly rise into a shooting posture after stopping.

Executing a proper knee slide requires keeping weight centered, absorbing impact with the legs rather than the wrists, and maintaining control of the marker to prevent accidental discharge.

In scenario or woodsball terrain, knee slides must be modified or avoided due to rocks, roots, or uneven ground.
