Slide
Overview
A slide is a controlled, low profile movement technique where a player transitions from a sprint into a grounded glide to enter bunkers safely, reduce exposure, and maintain momentum.
Key Points
- Used to enter bunkers with minimal profile exposure.
- Allows rapid deceleration without upright vulnerability.
- Common techniques include feet first, knee slides, and hip slides.
- Essential for beating lanes and winning breakouts.
- Requires safe body mechanics to avoid injury.
Details
Sliding is one of the fundamental movement methods in competitive paintball. Players use slides to convert sprinting speed into controlled, low profile entry while minimizing time spent exposed to incoming fire. Proper slide mechanics include lowering the center of gravity, tucking the marker, distributing weight onto a leg or hip, and driving momentum toward the bunker.
Different sliding styles serve different purposes. Feet first slides offer stability and immediate gun readiness. Knee slides help transition into tight spaces. Hip slides provide maximum length and smoothness when entering snake beams or long, low bunkers. Timing is critical early or late slides increase exposure to lanes.
Mastering slide techniques improves survivability, reduces awkward bunker contact, and enables quick transitions into shooting posture.
