Move Call
Overview
A move call is a verbal cue communicated by teammates to announce, coordinate, or authorize movement to a new bunker while ensuring suppression and timing support.
Key Points
- Used to coordinate bumps, fills, or forward attacks.
- Relies heavily on communication grid accuracy.
- Ensures teammates provide cover fire during the move.
- Prevents unnecessary exposure and mistimed pushes.
- Often tied directly to kill counts and lane conditions.
Details
A move call is an intentional communication signal used by players to coordinate movement. Because moving between bunkers is one of the most vulnerable actions in paintball, having teammates apply matched support fire is essential.
Move calls include: Request calls – “Can I go?”, “Is snake open?”, “Dorito one?” Approval calls – “Go now!”, “Your move is clean!” Support calls – “I’ve got your lane”, “Shooting over you”, “Crossfield is dead”
A proper move call requires: 1. Awareness of active lanes. 2. Communication between back and front players. 3. Timing based on opponent reloads, deaths, or wraps. 4. Confirmation from multiple angles if needed.
Teams that excel at move calls can advance reliably and safely, converting positional pressure into field control or eliminations. Poor move call discipline often leads to unnecessary deaths, broken pushes, or mismatched timing.
