Mask Line
Overview
Mask line refers to the horizontal level at which a player’s mask becomes visible around a bunker, determining exposure risk and the angles opponents can shoot.
Key Points
- Defines the height at which a player's mask becomes exposed.
- Critical for recognizing when head checks are safe or vulnerable.
- Varies based on bunker height and player posture.
- Directly influences survivability during snapshooting.
- Key factor in avoiding top of mask hits.
Details
Mask line is the visual threshold at which an opposing player can see the top portion of your mask when you peek or raise your head. Because the mask is often the first and most visible part of the body during exposure, understanding mask line is essential for safe gunfighting.
Mask line changes depending on: Bunker height and shape Player’s stance (standing, crouching, kneeling) How tightly a player hugs the bunker Angle of opponent fire
Players familiar with mask lines can: Execute safer head checks Position themselves to minimize top of mask hits Identify when opponents expose themselves prematurely Manage exposure during snapshots and wraps
Mask line awareness is especially important in the snake, dorito insert bunkers, and center structures where elevation differences create narrow windows of visibility.
