Gun Down Position
Overview
The gun down position is a neutral posture where a player holds their marker lowered and safe while moving or resetting, prioritizing mobility and bunker transitions over immediate firing.
Key Points
- Used when moving between bunkers or during non-engaged transitions.
- Keeps the marker controlled and prevents accidental discharges.
- Allows maximum running speed and low profile movement.
- Quickly transitions back into a ready stance when threats appear.
- Reduces arm fatigue during long points or sustained movement.
Details
The gun down position is used when a player is not actively engaged in shooting and needs to prioritize movement, mobility, or bunker entry. In this posture, the marker remains controlled but lowered, allowing the player to run faster, slide more efficiently, and maintain balance during sudden direction changes.
Gun down posture varies by situation. During sprints, players angle the marker parallel to their body to prevent impact damage. During tactical bumps, the marker is held close to the torso to reduce profile while allowing quick re-engagement.
Unlike the ready stance, the gun down position is not intended for immediate firing. It is a preparatory or transitional posture that emphasizes movement efficiency. However, elite players maintain awareness and can snap the marker back to shooting height almost instantly.
This position also prevents strain during long points. Holding the marker constantly in an active firing stance leads to fatigue, especially on back players holding lanes for extended durations. Cycling between ready stance and gun down posture allows players to stay physically and tactically sharp.
