Gun Call (“On Me” Call)
Overview
A gun call ('On Me') is a verbal communication that identifies an opponent actively shooting a lane or angle, alerting teammates to current threats and safe movement timing.
Key Points
- Signals which opponent is actively posted on a lane.
- Allows teammates to adjust posture, delay bumps, or time pushes safely.
- Reduces surprises by keeping players aware of live guns and angles.
- Forms part of structured team communication alongside codes and bunker identifiers.
- Essential for coordinated attacks, crossfield awareness, and survival.
Details
A gun call informs teammates that an opponent is currently posted and shooting a specific angle. Rather than generic warnings, gun calls are precise, naming the bunker or zone where the threat originates, such as “home gun snake side” or “corner on you.” This helps teammates gauge whether movement is safe, whether lanes are contested, and where pressure must be applied.
Gun calls are most effective when short, accurate, and repeated at critical moments. They allow players to coordinate timing during bumps and avoid exposing themselves into active fire. Gun calls also support anchoring roles, where players need up-to-date threat information to maintain lane control.
In high-level play, gun calls merge with coded communication systems, giving teams efficient shorthand for threats without revealing details to opponents. They are central to map control and survival, especially during breakouts, push attempts, and endgame scenarios.
Poor communication or inaccurate gun calls lead to unnecessary eliminations, failed bumps, and breakdowns in coordinated pushes.
