Weak-Side Shooting
Overview
Weak side shooting is the technique of firing from the non dominant hand or non dominant bunker edge to minimize exposure and win engagements from disadvantaged angles.
Key Points
- Reduces exposure by playing the correct bunker edge for the situation.
- Enables faster snapshots from angles dominated by opponents.
- Requires ambidextrous marker control and stable posture.
- Foundational skill in high level gunfighting.
- Improves survivability when mirrored opponents hold strong angles.
- Necessary for effective snake, dorito, and corner play.
Details
Weak side shooting means using the non dominant firing hand and edge to expose the minimum profile necessary. For right handed players, this usually means shooting left handed from the left edge of a bunker.
Elite players master weak side mechanics to remain unpredictable and reduce overexposure. Weak side snapshots must remain tight, consistent, and controlled under high pressure.
Weak side shooting is especially important in snake, dorito, and corner positions where exposure on the wrong edge leads to instant eliminations. Mastery allows players to switch hands mid engagement, adjust to incoming pressure, and contest mirrored opponents effectively.
The technique requires building muscle memory through drills focusing on posture, marker indexing, and eye alignment on the non dominant side.
