Vantage Point
Overview
A vantage point is any bunker position that provides superior visual or shooting access to multiple lanes, angles, or crossfield targets compared to surrounding positions.
Key Points
- Offers elevated or expanded field vision.
- Enables multi angle control and crossfield picks.
- Often located in central or mid up field bunkers.
- Determines midgame leverage and closing pressure.
- Highly contested during layout specific strategies.
Details
A vantage point is a strategically advantageous bunker offering strong angles into multiple sections of the field. These positions are typically located in the center or mid up field, where players can see and influence both tapes and interior lanes. Examples include center bricks, tall cans, wedges, and certain dorito platforms.
Securing a vantage point allows a player to detect timing pushes, catch crossfield runners, and suppress mirrored players. Teams often build strategies around contesting early access to these bunkers because they function as tactical control hubs.
Vantage points also determine late game closing potential: players anchoring from top vision positions can collapse zones efficiently while minimizing exposure. Losing control of a vantage point usually results in increased opponent pressure on weaker lanes.
