Traverse
Overview
To traverse is to rotate or shift the marker horizontally across multiple angles or threats without changing bunker position, allowing a player to control multiple zones from a single point.
Key Points
- Allows one bunker position to influence several firing lanes.
- Used to check multiple angles rapidly during engagements.
- Crucial for back players and anchors supporting multiple zones.
- Relies on smooth marker handling and stable posture.
- Improves map awareness by scanning for movement indicators.
Details
Traversing is the ability to swing or rotate the marker smoothly across a horizontal arc to check angles, apply pressure, and identify threats without physically moving to another bunker. Players use traversal to control multiple lanes, identify bump attempts, and punish opportunistic exposures.
Common applications include: Back players scanning dorito, center, and snake lanes. Insert players supporting both adjacent wires. Center attackers shifting between interior micro angles.
Proper traverse technique includes: Keeping the marker anchored in tight posture. Moving only the arms and shoulders, not the torso. Maintaining mask alignment to avoid exposing too much body.
Efficient traversal helps players catch opponents attempting wraps, bumps, or inside peeks. Poor traversal such as overswinging or exposing the mask line often results in preventable hits.
