Neutral Bomb Format
Overview
The Neutral Bomb Format is an objective based mode where teams compete to retrieve a single central ‘bomb’ prop and deliver it to a designated target area, base, or structure.
Key Points
- A single objective prop is placed at a neutral midfield location.
- Teams compete to retrieve and deliver the bomb to an opposing or central target zone.
- Common in scenario missions, objective based recreational play, and large events.
- Encourages timing heavy pushes, coordinated escorting, and zone control.
- Scoring may involve touching, planting, or depositing the bomb depending on event rules.
Details
The Neutral Bomb Format uses a single shared objective known as a bomb, package, or device prop placed at a central or neutral point on the field. At the start signal, both teams attempt to reach the bomb first while defending against opponents attempting to intercept or recover it.
Once retrieved, the bomb carrier must move the prop to a designated scoring zone. Depending on the ruleset, this may involve planting the bomb on a structure, entering a defined area, tagging a marker, or placing the prop on a platform or pedestal. Because the bomb is typically a physical object that must be carried or handled, movement speed and player vulnerability become central aspects of the format.
The structure emphasizes midfield control, communication, and coordinated movement. Teams often execute layered pushes: front players secure access routes, mid players escort the carrier, and rear players manage pressure from flanking opponents.
Neutral Bomb missions appear frequently in scenario and milsim events, where props and thematic objectives add narrative value. Recreational versions simplify the mechanics but preserve the core objective race.
Because only one objective exists, both teams’ actions directly influence each other, creating high intensity contests around midfield bunkers, terrain features, or choke points. The format supports a wide range of field types and scales effectively from small groups to large scenario battles.
