Field Distribution Mapping Model
Overview
A way of showing where players are on the field and how they move through different zones during a match.
Key Points
- Maps spatial occupation patterns.
- Supports neutral spatial interpretation.
- Useful for longitudinal comparisons.
- Works across all field designs.
- Helps maintain objective analysis standards.
Details
Field distribution mapping records which parts of the field players occupy at different times, and how those positions change. It focuses on location and movement density, not on judging whether those positions were strong or weak. This creates a neutral description of how teams used the field so that layouts and eras can be compared using the same language.
