Edge Clip Shot
Overview
An edge clip shot is a precision shot taken from behind cover where the shooter exposes the absolute minimum profile, using the bunker’s edge to shave the angle and fire along a narrow line.
Key Points
- Uses the bunker’s edge to minimize exposure while still applying pressure.
- Requires precise head, barrel, and shoulder alignment.
- Often used to hold tight lanes or deny small opponent moves.
- Effective against opponents attempting to probe or bounce between angles.
- Demands refined snapshotting mechanics and minimal movement signatures.
Details
An edge clip shot is executed by aligning the marker and player’s eye across the tight edge of a bunker, exposing only the smallest amount of mask and barrel necessary to fire. The technique is used to contest fine margins, deny micro-bump routes, or force opponents to remain contained.
To perform the shot effectively, a player positions their shoulder and marker so the barrel just clears the bunker edge while their mask remains mostly hidden. This alignment requires micro-adjustments to head tilt, elbow placement, and hip angle. The goal is to create a firing lane that covers the opponent while presenting almost no visible target.
Edge clipping is common in high-level play where micro-angles determine control of the point. When executed correctly, the technique lets a player hold dominance over a lane without allowing their opponent to identify a clean shot back. It is especially powerful in mirrored engagements where both players are contesting narrow exposure lines.
The shot is also used defensively when a player must survive against heavy pressure. By reducing their profile to the smallest possible slice, they can preserve field presence long enough for reinforcements, crossfield kills, or tactical repositioning.
Training the technique involves snapshot drills that emphasize consistency and minimal exposure, as well as bunker-edge tracking to understand how angles shift as opponents reposition.
