Direct Line Angle

Direct Line Angle reference article.

Overview

A direct line angle is the straight, unobstructed line from a player’s position to an opponent, used for clear shots without needing wraps, bounces, or curved paths.

Key Points

  • Provides the simplest and most accurate shooting line.
  • Requires clear visibility and minimal bunker obstruction.
  • Often the safest angle because the player does not need to expose extra body area.
  • Used for snap shots, containment, and direct engagements.
  • Control of direct angles helps dominate gunfights.

Details

A direct angle is the most straightforward shooting line between a player and the target. Unlike wrapped angles or borrowed angles, a direct angle is taken without repositioning around the bunker. This angle is available when the opponent sits directly in front of a player's edge or when their bunker placement creates a clean line of sight.

Direct angles allow maximum accuracy because the marker remains stable and the player exposes only a small portion of their mask and marker. Skilled players prefer direct angles when possible because they minimize risk while maintaining strong pressure.

Direct angles are essential for winning close bunker battles, shutting down escape routes, and punishing predictable peeks. Controlling direct angles forces opponents to stay tight, hesitate, or shift positions, giving your team control of key zones.
