Corner Player

Corner Player reference article.

Overview

Corner players occupy the wide back bunkers positioned near the tape lines. Their responsibilities include maintaining wide lane presence and observing crossfield tendencies.

Key Points

  • Controls wide angles from back corner locations.
  • Supports tape side advancement.
  • Monitors movement occurring across the field.
  • Relays information to interior roles.
  • Maintains consistent presence in wide bunkers.

Details

Corner players begin in the outermost back bunkers on either the snake or Dorito side. These positions provide access to wide lanes and clear sightlines along the tape. From these angles, corner players observe how opponents move along the edges of the field and assist teammates who advance into forward structures.

Because corner bunkers sit at the edges of the layout, players in this role often remain in position longer, which helps maintain consistent communication and lane presence. They track crossfield changes, including shifts in pressure or movement across central bunkers.

Corner players may also transition forward when openings appear on their side. Movement from the corner into mid level bunkers supports further advancement and increases control of the tape corridor.

The role contributes to maintaining structure along the outer boundaries of the field and provides support for both front and central positions.
