  • Cleaning is usually performed without full marker disassembly.
  • Applicable across recreational and competitive formats.
  • Considered a routine part of basic marker upkeep.

Details

Barrel cleaning is a recurring maintenance activity in paintball that focuses on the interior of the barrel. Paint, shell fragments, dirt, or other debris can accumulate inside the bore and alter the way air interacts with the paintball as it exits the marker. This may result in changes to accuracy, grouping, or overall consistency.

Soft squeegees, pull through cords, and microfiber swabs specifically designed for paintball equipment are commonly used for this purpose. These tools are intended to remove residue without scratching or otherwise damaging the internal surface of the barrel. The goal is to restore a smooth, uniform passage that supports predictable airflow and paintball travel.

In most cases, the process is completed without fully disassembling the marker and can be performed between games or during general maintenance sessions. Barrel cleaning is observed in both recreational and competitive settings as a basic preventative measure that supports more consistent shot performance over time.
